New Jersey Rental Application
The New Jersey rental application is used to decrease the chance and risk of a possible eviction or a lessee from not paying rent. The landlord may collect a non-refundable fee for processing the applicant’s credit, background, employment, and previous rental history information and it also serves as a test to see how serious they may be in the space.
Once approved, the tenant should be given a lease and the amount the security deposit should be at the time of authorization. Note that the landlord cannot charge more than one and a half (1.5) month’s rent due to Statute 46:8-21.2.
